When machining workpieces on a CNC lathe, we need to monitor the accuracy of the workpiece in real-time so that we can adjust it in a timely manner when errors are found. The purpose of doing so is to improve machining efficiency and workpiece machining accuracy. So, what are some methods for measuring workpiece accuracy? Today, our CNC lathe manufacturer will explain the three commonly used methods for measuring and feedback the machining accuracy of CNC lathes.
1. Use high-precision measuring instruments:
Equip measuring tools with appropriate precision levels (micrometers, vernier calipers, internal diameter gauges, height gauges, profilometers, roundness meters, coordinate measuring machines, etc.) for process inspection and final inspection. The measuring tool itself needs to be calibrated regularly.
2. First article inspection and process sampling:
Strictly implement first article inspection: After program debugging or changing the batch of workpieces, the first or first few workpieces processed must undergo full-size (or critical size) inspection, and can only be processed in bulk after passing the inspection.
Process sampling: During batch processing, key dimensions are sampled at a certain frequency to promptly detect issues such as tool wear and machine tool abnormalities.
3. Online measurement and compensation (advanced):
On machine measurement: using the measuring heads (workpiece measuring head, tool measuring head) equipped on the machine tool to directly measure the dimensions of the workpiece during or after the machining process, and automatically correct the tool compensation or machining program origin offset based on the measurement results, achieving closed-loop control. This can significantly improve accuracy and efficiency, and reduce secondary clamping errors.
The above are the three commonly used methods for measuring and providing feedback on the machining accuracy of CNC lathe workpieces compiled and released by CNC lathe manufacturers. We hope that the above description can be helpful for everyone when operating CNC lathes in the future.
